Winston Plywood Progress - July 24, 2015

Foundations:
·         Placed balance of concrete wall and piers on Column Row A (For Building 2)
·         Continued placing stone base for concrete slab in Building 2 (North End – between new concrete wall and existing building slab)
·         Installed crushed concrete base for slab in buildings 9 & 10;  Installed vapor barrier and reinforcing for these buildings as well
·         Continued undercut and backfill in Area 1 east of plant in preparation for concrete paving

Building:
·         Continued installing insulation and roofing on west side of Building 1, completing from column rows 3-22.
·         Completed decking on Building 1 west side from column rows 3-28;  insulation placed to column row 24
·         Completed setting rafters on building 3; set bar joists to column row 21 and half of bay from columns 21-23
·         Continued framing trim-out and detailing on Buildings 1, 3, 5, 9, and 10
·         Began decking on building 5 (clear-span loading area)
·         Began insulation and roofing on buildings 9-10

Fire Protection:
·         Contractor continued installing sprinklers in roof of Building 1;  Contractor is hanging sprinkler piping in north to south direction; piping is in place from columns 23-13

Electrical:
·         Continued layout and construction of primary underground piping to transformers 5-13 (north east corner of building 2), and transformers 1-4 (southeast corner of building 2)

Site & Utilities:
·         Cleared rubbish and prepared drainage ditch west of parking lot and placed rip-rap material

·         Continued removing old presses and related equipment
·         Continued refurbishing existing veneer dryers

Board Minutes-7-21-2015



MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR

AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE
HELD ON THE 21ST DAY OF JULY 2015

A regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Louisville was held at five-thirty o’clock p.m. on the 21st day of July 2015, at the City Hall, the aforesaid being the time and place for the meeting with the following officers present:  William A. “Will” Hill, Mayor; Eugene Crosby, Mayor Pro Tem; Frances S. Ball, Richard R. (Dickie) Caperton, Judy H. McLeod, and Gwenita Mays, Aldermen; Babs W. Fulton, City Clerk and C. Taylor Tucker, City Attorney.


The meeting was duly opened and called to order by Mayor Will Hill.  The Mayor gave the opening prayer and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following business was transacted at the meeting:

Winston Plywood Progress - July 17, 2015

Foundations:
·         Placed balance of footing wall foundations on Column Row A (For
Building 2)
·         Placed forms for concrete wall on south end of Column Row A (For Building 2)
·         Began placing stone base for concrete slab in Building 2 (North End)
·         Removed unsuitable materials and installed crushed concrete base for slab in buildings 9 & 10
·         Removed unsuitable materials to install stone base for slab at glue room
·         Began undercut and backfill in Area 1 east of plant for concrete paving

Building:
·         Continued installing insulation and roofing on west side of Building 1, completing from column rows 1- 21.
·         Continued setting columns, rafters, and bar joists on Building 3 (from column rows 5-11)
·         Continued framing trim-out and detailing on Buildings 1, 5, and 9
·         Continued framing on building 2
·         Received structural framing materials for Buildings 6, 6A, 7, 8, and 11.
·         Began erecting structural steel on Building 7 & 8

Fire Protection:
·         Contractor continued installing sprinklers in roof of Building 1

Electrical:
·         Continued layout and construction of primary underground piping to transformers 5-13 (north east corner of building 2), and transformers 1-4 (southeast corner of building 2)

Weekly Progress Report - Winston Plywood - July 10

The City of Louisville is posting progress reports on the construction of the Winston Plywood facility on a weekly basis. The following is the report submitted on July 10, 2015:

Foundations:
·         Placed 100’ of footing wall foundations on Column Row A (West side of plant building)
·         Prepared foundations for part of Building 9 and for slab replacement at demo site of old No. 1 Dryer

Building:
·         Completed roofing on Building 1 on east side from column rows 3-23
·         Continued installing insulation and began installing roofing on west side of Building 1, completing from column rows 1- 7.  Continued setting columns, rafters, and bar joists on Building 3 (from column rows 5-11)
·         Continued framing trim-out and detailing on Buildings 1, 5, and 9

Fire Protection:
·         Sprinkler contractor mobilized to the site, received materials, and began installation of ceiling sprinkler system in Building No. 1.  Sprinkler piping is in place from column rows 19-23

Electrical:
·         Contractor for 13 KV primary power supply completed underground duct banks to transformers 5-13 (northeast corner of plant), and began layout and construction of underground to transformers 1-4 (southeast corner of plant)

Miscellaneous
·         Received Nicholson A-8 Debarker frame and Log-Pro merchandising equipment

Winston Plywood Weekly Update-July 3

Foundations:
·         Formed, placed, and finished foundation/slab for Building No. 8
·         Placed grade wall footing on Column Line-A at old access ramp to building (At columns 23-25)
·         Completed and backfilled pile caps on Column Line-A

Building:
·         Erected exterior columns in Building 3 entire length of building on Column Row P;  X-bracing and top girts installed
·         Placed rafters on Building 3 at Column Rows 3-5 and installed bar joists in these bays
·         Continued installation of insulation, water shield, and standing-seam roofing on Building 1
 
Electrical:
·         Contractor for 13 KV primary power supply continued underground duct banks to transformers and switchboards on south east side of building

Automatic sprinkler protection contractor is to mobilize on Monday, July 6th, and begin installing sprinklers in buildings 1, 9, and 10.
