Winston Plywood Update 5-27-16



Site Utilities

· Continued investigating alternate routing of sewer piping to avoid interference with other piping system and electrical duct bank

· Continued installing pipe bollards around fire hydrants on south and west sides of plywood building and filled with concrete

· Flushed underground piping and valves for fire system



Hog, Glue Room, and Chipper Pad

· Continued cleanup on blocks and area around glue make-up and storage rooms



Low Voltage Electrical:

· Continued installing conduit and wiring to breakroom / restrooms / offices at mezzanine area

· Pulled power cable from switchgear to Vault MCC unit

Plant Build-Out:

· Installed rails and 5-ton overhead crane in maintenance shop

Plant Piping:

· Continued installing steam and condensate piping to Dryers No. 1, 2, and 3

· Continued steam and condensate piping in boiler room

· Continued installing air piping in compressor room

· Began connecting air compressors to oil coolers in compressor room

Site Paving:

· Performed excavation and grading on strip of remaining paving between vault infeed aprons and paving strip north of building 10

· Began placing reinforcing in area listed above

Fire Protection System:

· Continued installing hose reels at building columns

Log Conditioning Vaults:
· Continued construction of 5’ concrete knee wall along north side of vault drain ditch to holding pit

· Continued installation of steel framework for stoop over ditch along north wall on vaults

· Continued installation of steel structure and roof system over vault water holding tank (east of vaults)

· Completed installation of posts and rails for safety fence around top of vaults

· Installed west-end access stairs to top of vaults

· Began pulling power cables to vault MCC unit

· Began backfill and compaction of material along west and north walls at vaults

· Removed some of debris from vault water holding tank and pumped water from tank

Equipment Foundations (East and West Residuals):

· Continued installing handrails around hog tower at mid-level concrete floor

· Continued installing access stairs to hog tower concrete floor (second elevation)

· Continued installing access stairs to hog tower (third elevation)

· Continued installing support frame for conveyor feeding East-Side Residual truck bins

· Placed additional concrete pedestals for additional column foundations on West-Side residuals (for blowpipe supports)

RTO Rebuild

· Continued pulling power cables to MCC unit and turned on lights in Control Room

· Install duct supports for RTO duct from building to RTO

· Began installing ductwork from dryers to RTO

Winston Plywood & Veneer

· Continued refurbishing and installing Lathes No. 1 & 2 and related equipment (focus on east lathe line)

· Continued installing equipment at both clippers, green stackers, and pull chains (focus on east lathe line)

· Continued refurbishing chippers for green-end by products

· Continued cleaning and painting green-end and dry end equipment and support steel

· Continued electrical installation at Green-End equipment (conduit and power wiring)

· Continued installing electrical service from electrical room to Log Pro equipment

· Continued refurbishing Dryers No. 1 & 2

· Continued assembly and installation of Dryer No. 1, 2, & 3 infeed and outfeed sections

· Performed preliminary test run on No. 1 Lathe line motors and equipment

· Set lathe knife grinder and began construction of knife grinding room

Winston Plywood Update 5-20-16




Site Utilities

· Continued investigating alternate routing of sewer piping to avoid interference with other piping system and electrical duct bank

· Excavated opening for dryer wash-down water pit at southeast corner of plywood plant, and placed concrete bottom for this structure; began forming walls for wash water pit

· Continued final grading for sloped paving to storm water system along west wall of plywood plant (between building wall and parking lot)

· Continued installing pipe bollards around fire hydrants on south and west sides of plywood building and filled with concrete


Racetrack Piping:

· Continued installing trim-out piping and valves to plant equipment



Hog, Glue Room, and Chipper Pad

· Completed block work on second floor of glue make-up and storage rooms

· Placed grout in block walls

· Began cleanup on blocks and area around glue make-up and storage rooms


Low Voltage Electrical:

· Continued installing conduit and wiring to breakroom / restrooms / offices at mezzanine area

· Cut trench along south side of roadway and across north road to vault holding tank, installed electrical duct bank to Vault MCC unit location, installed duct bank in concrete, backfilled/compacted trench with stone, and reopened roadway

· Connected primary power to west side fire suppression area, including fire pump house

· Connected power and turned on lighting to auxiliary parking lot at fire pump area


Plant Build-Out:


· Completed installing five air flow fans in walls of air compressor and boiler rooms

· Installed blocks with grout at West Side Residuals control room

· Sawcut opening in upper concrete floor at mezzanine area and installed stair case. Stairs are blocked off awaiting delivery and installation of handrails on stairs and around opening in floor.


Plant Piping:

· Continued installing steam and condensate piping to Dryers No. 1, 2, and 3

· Completed modifications to four condensate return lines in No. 2 Dryer

· Continued steam and condensate piping in boiler room

· Completed painting air piping components in offsite fabrication and paint shop and delivered to site

· A large part of air piping was installed in air compressor room following delivery.


Site Paving:

· Finished final grading and completed installation of rebar in area between Log Pro foundation and Bark Hog. Placed, finished, and sawcut that area of paving.

· Completed finish grading for area paving north of buildings five and nine; tied and installed reinforcing steel; placed and finished this concrete strip, opening up the area for installation of Lathe Infeed Log Decks and Core Kickout Pockets

· Formed, installed rebar, placed & finished concrete paving in area south of vault water storage pit (area between pit and north roadway)


Fire Protection System:

· Continued installing hose reels at building columns


Log Conditioning Vaults:

· Completed weld-out on galvanized, angled, deflector plates in vaults at base of vaults

· Completed removal of support structure for vault concrete roof system (east vaults)

· Continued curing west half of Vault infeed apron (Wet cure with burlap fabric)

· Continued construction of 5’ concrete knee wall along north side of vault drain ditch to holding pit

· Began installation of steel structure and roof system over vault water holding tank (east of vaults)

· Formed, tied rebar, placed & finished east section of vault infeed apron


Equipment Foundations (East and West Residuals):

· Continued installing handrails around hog tower at mid-level concrete floor

Winston Plywood Update 5-13-16


 Buildings:
· Continued work on building punchlist items

· Continued installing additional gutters on Building No. 1 (Tallest section of plant building)
· Began installing additional down-spouts on Building No. 1

Foundations:

· Removed forms and support system from hot tower concrete roof, hog tower concrete is complete

· Placed foundation for pipe truss across north road (truss ties vaults to building)

Site Utilities

· Began removal of support structure for vault concrete roof system

· Formed and placed curb around east section of vault roof

· Formed, tied rebar, and placed final concrete structure at north end of Vault No. 20 (concrete inside and at north end of vault)

· Placed west half of concrete apron in front of vaults

· Began construction of 5’ concrete wall along north side of vault drain ditch to holding pit



Equipment Foundations (East and West Residuals):

· Removed jack support system and forming materials on concrete roof on hog tower

· Began installing handrails around hog tower

· Engineer performed layout for four additional fan foundations and bag-house at West-Side Residuals

· Set structural support frame for conveyor feeding East-Side Residual truck bins



RTO Rebuild

· Continued engineering work on arrangement of ID fan and fan motor foundations

· Continued construction of RTO control room

· Set MCC unit in RTO Control Room

· Steam cleaned structure and supports for RTO, as well as RTO burner system, and cleaned up debris from RTO wash-down

· Placed remaining conveyor foundations for East-Side Residuals

· Laid out and began installing foundation for Pipe Truss from plywood plant building, across north roadway to roof of vaults

· Tap main fire water line for water storage tank heater circulating system

· Investigating alternate routing of sewer piping to avoid interference with other piping system and electrical duct bank


Racetrack Piping:

· Continued installing trim-out piping and valves to plant equipment

· Continued running conduit and wiring to green-end and out to north wall on Building 9

Mayor Will Hill Recieves 2016 Phoenix Award

William Hill, Mayor of Louisville, Mississippi, was presented the 2016 Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery by a Public Official by SBA Administrator Maria Contreras-Sweet at an awards ceremony at the Smithsonian Museum of American History in Washington on Sunday evening, May 1. Also shown on stage for the presentation James Rivera, Associate Administrator for SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance.

Winston Plywood Update 4-29-16

Buildings:

· Continued installing additional wall louvers in boiler room and air compressor rooms

· Began preparatory work for installing additional gutters and downspouts on upper section of Building No. 1
Foundations:

· Placed 12” roof slab on Hot Tower for East Side Residuals

Racetrack Piping:

· Continued installing trim-out piping and valves to plant equipment

· Continued installing and locking out valves to fill racetrack piping and perform tests

· Performed tests on domestic water lines in Racetrack
Low Voltage Electrical:

· Continued installing electrical conduits and cables from chipper deck electrical room

· Continued running electrical service to plant equipment

· Continued installing conduit and wiring to breakroom / restrooms / offices at mezzanine area

· Continued running conduit and wiring to green-end and out to north wall on building 9

· Installed conduits from the RTO control room to RTO motor locations

· Received and set Transformer for fire suppression system at fire water pump house

· Had plant wide power outage to plant site, and connected primary power to transformer at fire suppression water system

· Stood all poles for lighting on west side parking lot

· Continued laying blocks in interior offices below mezzanine area (east side of plant)

· Continued laying blocks at west side break room and rest rooms

· Began laying blocks on west side residual control room

· Installed Tee-Wall at vault wall “T” (last tee wall)

· Installed northeast corner wall on vaults (vault wall construction is complete)

· Continued installing galvanized, angled, deflector plates in vaults at base of vaults

· Began relocating support system for placement of east half of vault roof

· Finished installing support system and placed Hot Tower roof slab
