MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR

AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE
HELD ON THE 2ND DAY OF JUNE 2015

A regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Louisville was held at five-thirty o’clock p.m. on the 2nd day of June  2015, at the City Hall, the aforesaid being the time and place for the meeting with the following officers present:  William A. “Will” Hill, Mayor; Eugene Crosby, Mayor Pro Tem; Frances S. Ball, Richard R. (Dickie) Caperton, Judy H. McLeod, and Gwenita Mays, Aldermen; Babs W. Fulton, City Clerk; and C. Taylor Tucker, City Attorney.


The meeting was duly opened and called to order by Mayor Will Hill.  Eugene Crosby gave the opening prayer and the Mayor led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following business was transacted at the meeting:

I.     Accept recommendation of Project Manager, Yates Construction, to accept bid from Industrial Commercial Fire Protection, Inc. for $1,275,000.00 on the Fire Suppression package- see enclosed
J.    Authorize all public notices for delinquent taxes and tax sale
K.   Set a public hearing on budget for Tuesday, August 4, at 5:00 p.m. and authorize public notice for budget hearing
L.    Acknowledge Police training, USDOJ Weapons of Mass Destruction in Jackson on June 15 at no cost to city, Andy Taylor, Perry Yates, Karl Black, and Mark Gregory,

Weekly Progress Update - Winston Plywood and Veneer- May 26

Foundations:
·         Grade beams placed and complete on Buildings 9 & 10
·         Approximately 250 feet of footing in place for concrete wall along rail spur
·         90 feet of concrete wall placed along rail spur

Building Structural Steel:
·         Rafters in place connecting columns at rows 9-23 on Building 1
·         Joists in place from Column Rows 11-23
·         Rafter set on Building 1 at Column Row 25, and bar joists in place from Column Rows 23 to 25 (Building 1)
·         Trim-out ongoing from Column Rows 15-25

Fire Protection:
·         Approximately 1,900 feet of 12” underground fire protection piping in place (underground main loop across north end of site and along west property line, to major curve in road east of existing RTO)
·         12” section line run to sprinkler control rooms on north end of plywood building
·         Concrete thrust blocks placed at underground intersecting points in fire loop across north and west sides of plant site

Electrical:
·         Six electrical duct-banks in place from stub-ups inside electrical rooms (at switchboards) to a point 5’ outside of east building wall

LPD Join Other Law Enforcement to Honor Fallen Comrades

Officers from the Louisville Police Department, the Mississippi
Highway Patrol and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics gathered at Memorial Park Cemetery at 2p.m. on Sunday May 17,2015. The officers took part in the statewide wreath laying ceremony to honor the lives and careers of local officers killed in the line of duty. Sunday is the last day of National Police Week.

This service honored Trooper Joe Clay (MHP), Agent Hank McLeod (MBN) and officer Darrell Cooper (Louisville Police Department.)

Weekly Progress Update - Winston Plywood and Veneer- May 15

This is a weekly update on construction progress at the Winston Plywood and Veneer Facility in LouisvileDemolition:

·         Existing dryer wash-down water pit removed

Foundations:
·         Building grade wall placed and finished across west end of Building 5
·         Grade beams and floor slab placed and finished on west ½ of Building 5 (building 5 foundations and slab complete)
·         Grade beams excavated and rebar in place along building line north of existing lathes.

Building Structural Steel:
·         Structural columns on Building 1 in place at E-9, E-11, E-13, E-15, I-9, I-11, I-13, and I-15
·         Bar joists in place on Building 1 between Column Rows 19-21, 21-23 and 23-25.  Trim-out ongoing between Column Rows 19-25

Fire Protection:
·         Approximately 1,400 feet of 12” underground fire protection piping in place (underground main loop is in place across north end of site and approximately half way down east side property line)

Miscellaneous:
·         Subgrade excavation and backfill complete in area north of Building 5, north of lathes, northeast of plywood building, and along east side of plywood building
·         Crushed stone in place in areas listed above
·         Electrical duct-bank stub-outs in place from switchboards MSB1, MSB2, and MSB3
