Sample Ballot - June 4th Election

Below is a sample ballot for the City of Louisville General Election and referendum on Tuesday, June 4. The ballot includes Mayor,Wards 1,2,3,4 Aldermen and Alderman at Large as well as City Clerk. All candidates
are unopposed except the Alderman at Large Position in which Independent candidate Larry Veazey is challenging Democratic incumbent Frances Ball. Also on the ballot is a referendum on a 2% local hotel/motel tax to be used for tourism and local recreation and parks.

REFERENDUM STATEMENT:

This proposed levy authorizes a hotel/motel room tax in Louisville, Mississippi by a rate not to exceed two percent (2%) of the gross proceeds of room rentals.  Hotel or motel shall mean any establishment which consists of six (6) of more guest rooms.  The levy will be paid by people staying in hotel or motel rooms in Louisville, Mississippi, and would provide funds to promote tourism and parks and recreation within Louisville, Mississippi.
