Winston Medical Center Construction Plans

A drawing of the proposed Winston Medical Center Construction and plan has been available for a period of time. This is the latest available and includes readable labels for the buildings and layout.

Plans have been formalized to reconstruct in the same general location on East Main Street in Louisville. Plans and schedules are always subject to change but current expectations include - demolition of the old hospital to begin next month (June) and construction to begin in October of this year. The projected completion date is 2018.

WMC has transitioned from a temporary facility to a full service transitional hospital located on South Church Avenue. This facility will serve the community until construction is completed.

Winston Plywood Progress Report - May 8, 2015

This is a weekly update on construction progress at the Winston Plywood and Veneer Facility in Louisvile

Demolition:

·         Concrete Slab and grout foundation at Lathes/Lathe Foundations – Has been removed

Pile Caps:
·         Pile caps at air compressor room, boiler room, and maintenance shop
o    29 pile caps in place, 4 remaining to be completed

Foundations:
·         Grade beams and floor slab placed and finished for east ½ of Building 5
·         Grade beams excavated and rebar in place along north and west sides of west ½ of Building 5 (Will place and finish slab next week)
·         Approximately 300 feet of footing formed and rebar in place for grade beam along west wall of plywood building (at rail spur)

Building Structural Steel:
·         Structural columns on Building 1 in place at E-17, E-19, E-21, E-23, E-25, I-17, I-19, I-21, I-23, and I-25
·         Rafters in place on Building 1 Column Rows 19, 21, and 23
·         Partial bar joists in place on Building 1 between Column Rows 17-19, and 19-21

MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR

AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN OF THE CITY OF LOUISVILLE
HELD ON THE 5TH DAY OF MAY 2015

A regular meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Louisville was held at five-thirty o’clock p.m. on the 5th day of May 2015, at the City Hall, the aforesaid being the time and place for the meeting with the following officers present:  Eugene Crosby, Mayor Pro Tem; Frances S. Ball, Richard R. (Dickie) Caperton, Judy H. McLeod, and Gwenita Mays, Aldermen; Babs W. Fulton, City Clerk; and C. Taylor Tucker, City Attorney.


The meeting was duly opened and called to order by Mayor Pro Tem, Eugene Crosby who also gave the opening prayer and led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. The following business was transacted at the meeting:

    1. Authorize payment of the Docket of Claims # 14195-14514 for $172,203.58   for April bills
    2. Authorize payments as listed on the Pay Application for Winston Plywood Project:  - handout to be given out Tuesday night
    3. Accept bids and other recommendations for Winston Plywood Project-to be handed out
    4. Discuss Jake’s progress
    5. Authorize final payment to Sue Daniels for $2,000.00 for court clerk assistance and acknowledge her retirement - see handout
    6. Acknowledge retirement of Charlie L. Black, Jr., effective 4-15-15 and adopt a resolution honoring him
    7. Declare as surplus a Glock model 22 handgun, serial #NER660, fixed asset 6-004429, and sell to Charlie L. Black, Jr. for $20.00 upon his retirement
    8. Request to give notice of vacancy in Police Department
    9. Authorize the Mayor to execute a lease with an option to purchase church property from First Assembly of God
    10. Authorize the Mayor to negotiate a sublease of a portion of the property to East Central Community College

Construction Update Winston Plywood and Veneer - 05-01-2015

Demolition:
·         Concrete Slab at Lathes/Lathe Foundations – Change order pricing being developed for demolition of concrete foundations around both existing lathes to include:
o    Short retaining walls and sumps
o    Overlay-grout for drainage around lathes
o    Above-foundation floor slabs as required for grade beam construction

Pile Caps:
·         West wall pile caps complete on south end of building at Columns A-1 and A-3.  Pile caps also being installed today on column lines A-28 and A-31 at northwest corner of building.  (West wall pile caps complete this week)
·         Pile caps at air compressor room, boiler room, and maintenance shop
o    11 pile caps excavated, formed, concrete in place, and forms removed
o    22 piles excavated, piles chipped down to required elevation, and rebar exposed for placement of pile cap forming and concrete placement
