Winston Plywood Update 7-8-16



Northeast Corner – Log Ramp Construction Area:
· Performed grading and backfill on east side of log ramp and log deck

· Installed wall in drain pipe from drain ditch east side of ramp

Hog, Glue Room, and Chipper Deck:
· Continued installing piping and valves at glue makeup and storage area

· Continued installing piping from glue room to lay-up line equipment

· Set hog in place and positioned trash conveyor from lay-up line

Low Voltage Electrical:
· Continued installing conduit and wiring to breakroom / restrooms / offices at mezzanine area

· Continued installing fire alarm system on metal wall at maintenance shop area

· Finished installing conductor bar for lathe gantry crane

Plant Build-Out:
· Continued painting doors in mezzanine area and on shipping office

· Continued installing bathroom fixtures in east-side restrooms

· Continued running ductwork and installed grills in mezzanine area

· Continued installing sheeting on stud walls at mezzanine area

· Installed ceiling grid in restrooms on west side of plant

· Installed structural support beam in west side lunch room

· Installed glass in shipping office and east side office doors and windows

· Completed installing handrails around stair opening to upper floor at mezzanine area

Plant Piping:
·Completed installing insulation on High Pressure Receiver piping

· Continued installing insulation on steam piping and ductwork in boiler room

· Continued checkout and commissioning on air compressors and air dryers

· Continued fabrication of piping to cross truss across north roadway (piping to vaults)

Fire Suppression:
·Continued installing hose reels at building columns

Site Paving:
· Placed section of roadway paving between RTO and main building at south end of plant

· Began grading area north of Building 5 and west of Log Conditioning Vaults for paving

· Began grading for paving around east side of log infeed deck to debarker

RTO Rebuild:
· Continued refurbishing RTO duct and equipment
· Continued installing conduit and power to RTO duct controls and devices

East Side & West Side Residuals:
·Continued fabricating and installing by –products handling conveyors and equipment (East Side)

· Continued pulling wiring to by-products conveyors and equipment (East Side)

· Continued installing plating and chutework at transitions between conveyors

· Began fabricating and guards for conveyor drive units

Winston Plywood & Veneer:


· Continued refurbishing and installing Lathes No. 1 & 2 and related equipment (continued focus on east lathe line)

· Continued installing equipment at both clippers, green stackers, and pull chains (continued focus on east lathe line)

· Continued checkout on No. 2 lathe line equipment (clipper & stackers)

· Continued refurbishing chippers and conveyors for green-end by products (on chipper deck)

· Continued cleaning and painting green-end and dry end equipment and support steel

· Continued electrical installation at Green-End equipment (conduit and power wiring)

· Continued electrical checkout on Log Pro equipment

· Began relocating 3 cut-up saw frames

· Continued details on installation of Dryer No. 1, 2, & 3 infeed and outfeed sections

· Continued installing electrical power to No. 1, 2, & 3 dryer components

· Continued installing glue lay-up line mechanical and electrical equipment

· Continued details on installing trim-saw equipment and stacker platforms and stairs

· Continued installing chutework at transitions from tree-length infeed deck and debarker conveyor, and from block saw equipment block conveyor to hog I/F system

· Continued installing chute work at transitions on by-products handling conveyors at ESR

· Continued installing drive components on miscellaneous ESR conveyors

· Continued performing preliminary test runs on No. 1 Lathe line motors and equipment

· Continued installing chutework at bark hog and at conveyor transition points from debark and Log Pro cut up system

· Continued construction of decks to core kickout pockets

· Began refurbishing core kickout pockets

· Completed installing insulation on economizers and boilers in boiler room

· Continued fabrication of infeed deck to No. 2 Lathe step-feeder and began installing infeed system to No. 1 Lathe step-feeder

· Continued fabrication and installation of support steel for No. 1 lathe step feeder

· Continued fabrication and installation of fines & overs conveyors at east-side residuals shaker screens; began installing drive components

· Continued fabrication and installation plating and chutework at conveyor transition points
