Ongoing Construction at Louisville Facility
Louisville, Miss. (April 28, 2015) —Winston Plywood & Veneer launched the company’s official new website Tuesday, highlighting its strong partnership with city and state officials and signaling continued progress toward completion of its new, state-of-the-art plywood facility in the City of Louisville. The original mill, idled since 2009, was destroyed one year ago today when a devastating F4 tornado struck Louisville.

(April 28, 2015) —Winston Plywood & Veneer launched the company’s official new website Tuesday, highlighting its strong partnership with city and state officials and signaling continued progress toward completion of its new, state-of-the-art plywood facility in the City of Louisville. The original mill, idled since 2009, was destroyed one year ago today when a devastating F4 tornado struck Louisville.

Among the site’s features are photos from ongoing construction activity, videos from the groundbreaking ceremony in late January, a 3-D rendering of the new facility, and “Baldwin’s Blog,” a regular column updating the community on the project authored by Winston Plywood & Veneer’s President and General Manager, and nationally-recognized plywood expert, Dr. Dick Baldwin. The site will also provide information on employment opportunities at the company as they become available.

Memorial Dedication & Program Schedule - April 28, 2015
Tuesday, Apil 28, 2015 marks the one year anniversary of the
tornado that struck our community and took the lives of ten of our own, the homes of hundreds of citizens and disrupted the lives of almost all in Winston County.
A memorial dedication and a religious service will be held at the entrance of Memorial Park at 416 East John C. Stennis Drive (Hwy 397) to mark this event. Here is the full rundown of the events of the day:
The Memorial Dedication will begin sharply at 4:00 pm. The program will include:
The program will include: a presentation of colors by the Ms. Highway Patrol, National Anthem by Parker Bullock, a Litany of Thanksgiving, Dedication, Proclamation, a Remembrance of those lost and a Veterans Tribute. This program will end promptly at 4:45 pm.

Construction Update - Winston Plywood/Veneer - April 10
The City of Louisville is providing info to keep the public informed of construction progress on the Winston Plywood and Veneer facility. This is a brief summary as of 4-10-2015:
Demomlition continues to progress. Concrete demo continues on old dryer foundation, lathe areas, glue room and miscellaneous small areas. Unsuitable soils along the east edge of the facility are being excavated.
Pilings are continued to be added with 18 added in the previous week to support the fire protection system storage tank. There are 278 required total and there are 29 remaining to be placed.
Foundation work is under way with 24 interior building column pile caps to be placed. Sixteen are complete with pile cap and a finished slab in place, Four need completion of slab topping and four have been dug and ready for reinforcing and concrete.

Construction Update on Winston Plywood & Veneer Project 3-31-15
The City of Louisville receives weekly updates on the progress of the construction of the Winston Plywood & Veneer facility. The City will keep the public informed through our website and local media:
Weather has created some delays with pilings and foundations but crews are expected to recover most of that time over the next few weeks. Buildings 1,9 and 10 are currently in fabrication and are expected to arrive on site on 4/27/2015.
Demolition is progressing with final crushing ongoing, final removal on the North site at retaining wall is ongoing as well. Excavation, fill and compaction at the east side of building pad has been completed.
