A local citizen, Dorothy Hisaw took matters into her own hands and made a donation to local law enforcement on Friday. Mrs. Hisaw made a donation to help purchase body cameras for officers in the Louisville Police Department.
Stating the concern about recent unrest and assaults on police and law enforcement officers she recognizes there is a need for all officers to wear a personal video camera. Mrs. Hisaw stated, " These cameras are needed not just for public safety but for the officers safety as well, they will help to eliminate a he said/she said situation". She noted that there was a total of 32 cameras needed in Winston County, 24 for the city and 8 for the county.
As part of her efforts she has issued a challenge to the citizens of Louisville and Winston County. Mrs. Hisaw stated, "The police and sheriff don't hesitate to come when we call--let's all do our civic duty and do all we can to help them." She challenges all businesses, churches and citizens to make donations in order to purchase these cameras.
